TODAY’s SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped gfor every good work.
Every Christian woman knows how important it is to read her Bible. We all make promises to ourselves to read daily, but sometimes those promises are hard to keep as we get caught up in the whirlwind of housework, kids, jobs, and husbands.
TRY A DIFFERENT TRANSLATION: Some are better than others, and the King James Version is still said to be the one most true to the original manuscripts. Written in the 1600s, it used the language of the day, so many women find it hard to follow. The New King James Version uses modern language. The New American Standard Bible is also a good choice.
PRAY: Ask God to give you a thirst for what is in His word.
JOIN A BIBLE STUDY GROUP: Take notes and re-read the passages at home. Read ahead to the next session.
DOWNLOAD AN APP: There are apps to remind you to read your Bible, and there are also apps that will download the Bible right onto your phone.
FIND A GOOD SPACE: Look around your home for a good place to read the Bible daily. It should have a comfortable chair and good lighting, and perhaps a beautiful view to gaze upon while you ponder what you have read.
BE ACCOUNTABLE: This is a good reason to join a Bible study group, but you can also read alone and have a friend check up on you occasionally.
BUY A STUDY BIBLE: Don’t just read the Bible — really study it. Take notes in the margins, underline important words, and she meaningful verses. Here are some of my Bible Journalling Accessories (Disclosure: affiliate link)
