I don’t remember the exact date, but I remember other details… it was the summer of 1973… I had a boyfriend named Dave Grenier… I was 16 years old…it was on a Sunday… and I was in church…
But it was a day — actually a moment — that was to change my life forever. I can’t remember the topic of the sermon, but the Proverbs 31 woman was mentioned. I turned quickly in my Bible to the passage and I followed with interest. This woman — who didn’t even have a name — was everything I wanted to be, and more!
Dave and I eventually went our separate ways, only to met again 36 years later. He saw in me what had begun back in 1973: the seed that was planted in my life back in 1973 had grown throughout my life, and the Proverbs 31 Woman had been my role model all along.
Today, Dave and I are married, and I am still evolving. I am now ordained and officiate at wedding ceremonies. My business ties into that by including wedding planning and the certification of other planners. My interest in interior design lead to another facet of my business life — staging and redesigning homes. And of course, the Proverbs 31 woman is there, in the Bible studies I have developed to help other women become more like her.
Giving back, in thanks for that long-ago lesson.
