Probably not…no one can be liked by everyone they know, not all the time, anyway. No doubt, the Proverbs 31 woman may have encountered those who were jealous of her, as well.
How would she have handled this situation? Would she apologize for who she was? Would she defend herself? Would she offer explanations?
Would she take it personally? Would the insults hurt her? It’s safe to assume they would, but how she analyzed it would be as follows:
The Proverbs 31 woman would read between the lines of what they were saying. She would see reflected in their words how that person saw the world, and she would see how they perceived their own negative qualities.
She would simply listen to their words, realize that this is who the person was, and decide wether she wanted to have them in her life. She would definitely pray for them.
We should all follow her example.
